Using Custom Profiles

Following on from a discussion that I was having with someone the other day, how many of you use a custom profile?

And, more importantly from my point of view, how many of you use multiple profiles?

I have many profiles - different trades, several for measuring groundworks (civil engineering) alone, etc..

I thought many users would be the same but apparently this is not the case?!

I'm going to be making some suggestions for updates to some of Revu's standard features but if I'm just one of a handful of people using many profiles then this won't get much traction.

Any feedback will be much appreciated as always.

@Vince French I use one custom profile. My workflow is pretty consistent day to day so I don't have the need for multiple profiles at this point. I've shared this profile with my apprentice so that when I'm at his desk so that the layout of his Revu session is the same as mine.

I'd make the suggestions anyway as they might inspire a few others to use the "other 85%" of Revu as @Troy DeGroot says. I know seeing your and @Doug McLean's workflows have inspired me to improve my use of Revu! Besides, your suggestions might plant a seed with someone at Bluebeam for another feature that everyone will use. 😎

@David Cutler I'm not sure that I'm going to get very far if I'm the only one doing this type of thing. For groundworks, I have profiles for foundations, drainage, retaining walls, site management and externals. All have different tools although this is not too much of an issue. The reason for the different profiles are the different custom columns used to collect the various different information that I require.

While I'm sure no one is performing their takeoffs exactly the same as you @Vince French, I'm sure there are at least a few out there with similar setups - and probably many, many more that should be!

Don't let lack of attention/response on this site hold you back from making suggestions. Perhaps the right audience just hasn't found their way to the Community yet… 😎

I have my main one, and then I have one for when I do a Budget.

I use two, one for custom plaster work and one for painting. Again, like Vince, it's a matter of the overwhelming number of tools and custom columns associated with the different trades.

I actively use four custom profiles.

2 are for my regular work setup, where I have Bluebeam occupying 1.5 screens across my 3 monitors, and 2 are for when I am working on my laptop. In each of these setups, 1 profile is for estimating work, including counts and takeoffs, and the other is for engineering with general markups.
