Every job has it challenges but there's always something that makes it worth it. Maybe it's your coworkers, the flexibility, or your steady routine!
What's the part of your job that you look forward to?
One the THE very best part of being an Estimator is that I get to see drawings for projects long before most people get to. It's quite satisfying to see a project through from drawings to final completion.
I remember the first time I saw the Chase Center in San Francisco, it was basically a big hole with a lot of people setting up footings. Then I got to see it JUST before it opened to the public.
When you see that kind of transformation, it hits you. When you see the drawings and renderings come to life you feel a part of the project.
Working with my amazing team to create better experiences here for our members of course!
Fixing broken workflows. Fortunately I came into the industry while the paperless transition was in full effect, and there was a huge void of knowledge on software capabilities. It allowed me to establish myself as a trusted fix-it man. There is not much of anything at work more rewarding to me that hearing how much time is saved just by programming a macro, or teaching someone how to export/import information instead of typing it out.
For me, the best part of the job is seeing a project go from drawings on the screen to a real building. As an estimator, I get to see the full picture early on and then watch it take shape just the way we planned. Turning counts and numbers into something real is what makes it all worth it. And of course, when the final number actually matches the bid, that’s a reason to celebrate.
Honestly, all of YOU!! There's nothing like getting to know all of you both personally & professionally and helping each of you have your voices heard.
I've been lucky enough to see so many of you reach personal milestones (e.g., getting married, having kids, moving) or even share in some sadness. Additionally, I've had the pleasure of watching so many of you grow professionally in your careers.
To me, there's genuinely nothing better than sharing in these moments with all of you. So… thank YOU!!! Here are two Unbound photos I stole from @Liz Larsen 😀

Hi all, I am posting to check if there has been any changes with support for fully independent windows when dragging tabs out. When I drag a tab away from the main window, the new window does not have the full toolbar, and minimizing one window causes both to minimize. I know I can open a new instance from the taskbar, but…
I often use Revu to combine documents into one PDF. Revu always asks if I want to save the stapler job before exiting. I never want to save the stapler job. Is there a way to stop that "Save Job before Exiting" popup from coming up?
Hi, I'm a new user and want to edit some text on an existing PDF file. Can somebody please help me on how can this be done. I can use text box to add content, but not edit the original content.
Feel like I'm losing my mind. but I save my custom column to profile but every time I bring in a new PDF it removes it. What can be causing this. I have saved my profile and custom multiple times a day
Is there any work-around to no keyboard shortcut for exporting a page region to Excel? I have made several (unsuccessful) attempts to figure out a way to pin this function to a toolbar, but this does not seem possible either. Is there a feature that I don't know about that will allow me to simply add this shortcut, or add…
As I was preparing my response to @Troy DeGroot's post about custom line types I stumbled on to something that seemed odd. My original work with the custom line types was performed on my desktop at the office. When I opened the file from my laptop, I was surprised that the custom line styles that I had created weren't…
Hello peers, My goal using BB is to create excel spreadsheets of the counts of Exhaust Fans, Grilles, equipment etc. But most importantly ductwork. Instead of using the measurement tool where it gives you red measurements inbetween two arrows, is there a way I can highlight the duct run and it store the measurement?…
Is there a way to change the search engine used when I look up text from a file?
When a quantity link is set up in excel, it imports the value into the cell. It also uses the cell to the right of the link to tell us what that value is representing. example-sqft Can I stop it from talking the cell on the right? I just need the number.
In the latest update 21.7, semi-transparent or "highlight" markups are completely blocking out the content when measuring many documents. This creates more work if I have to guess a point location then remember to come back and fix it. I've been using BB for more than 10 years and the markups have always respected their…
