Tools and Tools Settings Suddenly Not Available to Me.

Can someone please tell me why I suddenly can't access my tools or properties of tools in Bluebeam?

I am trying to add my signature as I do every day but today all of a sudden, my saved tool set doesn't work. I can import a new signature .png to Bluebeam but it won't let me access the properties of the tool to change the border color and line width. I tried importing a movie but this forum doesn't accept .MP4 file formats…

I figured it out. It was a corrupt .btx file. Have no idea why it was corrupt or made it corrupt but in case anyone else has this issue the file is located here: C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu\21 and the file is My Tools.btx

Change the existing file to My Tools.btx_backup and relaunch Bluebeam… it will install a new tools menu and you will have to upload your signatures, stamps, and other custom markups again. But it appears to have worked.

@Alan Corey, P.E., My first guess is that you are working in a restricted PDF. If the document has security settings applied, Bluebeam will block access to tool properties and prevent modifications like border color and line width changes.

Open a different file, preferably one you previously marked up, and check whether your tool chest and properties panel function normally there. If they do, the issue is almost certainly document level security on the current file.

Also check:

Document > Security to see what permissions are allowed.
Whether the file is in a Studio Session, which can also restrict certain edits

If the problem happens in every file, then it is likely profile or permission related instead of document specific.

It is not document permissions. That was the first thing I checked. Even custom forms that I built, don't work. I cannot access the properties of any object and I just discovered that I can insert a different engineers signature and stamp but not my own.

I have also just discovered that when I close and relaunch bluebeam, the properties menu works on any document…. until I attach an object from my tool chest. After that, the properties become inaccessible.
