Option to add barcode into drawings

In our new lighting projects, we are tasked with adding barcodes to each lighting fixture in a diagram. When printed, these barcodes can be scanned to control the lighting fixtures. It would be ideal to have an option to generate quick, generic barcodes instead of taking pictures, saving them, and then adding them as JPG or PNG files.

Depending on the type of barcode, you may be able to create them using the appropriate Windows font. You could then create an interactive stamp to prompt you for the data to encode then place the barcode.

Another option that might be easier than photography, would be to use an online barcode generator tool to re-create the barcode in question. You can then right click on the generated image, hit "copy", then paste directly into your drawing. That will save a few steps and come out looking better than photos.

great idea… installing a Barcode Font into Revu.
A stamp would be one way, but a Custom Textbox/ Typewriter tool would be another.

You MIGHT even be able to upload a list into a Custom Column and then choose the appropriate option. Using this option would depend on where you want to see your Barcode. If it's just in a summary, then this MAY be a better option.

How do you generate the barcodes currently @jjimenez? Have you tried simply selecting the barcode from the source document and then using Ctrl-C to copy the barcode, then pasting the barcode onto your PDF? That could save a number of steps. I use this technique to copy simple calculations from Excel into PDFs when reviewing quotes. Works very well in that application.

If your barcode generator produces a PDF output you could use the "G" snapshot tool to copy the barcode and then paste it where needed on your PDF. Again, no need to save as a different file type.
