This month’s challenge is all about combining forces. Some tools in Bluebeam Revu are powerful on their own, but can become even better when paired together.

For March, we’re spotlighting your favorite Power Combos! Two or more features that work together to make your workflow faster, smarter, or more efficient.

Whether it’s a markup tool paired with custom properties, measurements combined with Excel exports, or profiles working alongside tool sets, we want to see how you’re stacking features for maximum impact.

I think it is a combination of all that you've mention in your post @Marco M!

Custom profiles are used for measuring different things such as drainage, foundations, brickwork, etc.. This is to ensure that I have the markup tools that I need to hand, the panels are laid out to make doing take-offs as efficient as possible and I have the correct custom columns for collecting every last piece of metadata that I need. Believe it of not, you really do need a different layout of panels for measuring drainage and foundation even though they are by the same trade.

Then custom tools with their properties set in order so markups can be easily recognised and relay as much information as possible to anyone picking up the drawing. The tools will also be preloaded with properties where possible - whether this is pipe sizes, location of works, etc. - if it can be loaded into the tool instead of typing the details in later then this helps speed up workflows.

The custom columns then collect all the details that I need for exporting out to a csv file which is then imported into Excel via Power Query. Excel then works with the minimum amount of input - you don't want to be typing in measurement or other details that you have already got in Bluebeam.

I like making custom count blocks for I/O lists and MTOs. I make custom shapes with custom properties in my tool chest. AI/AO/DI/DO/COMMS, right click on the toolbox Icon to create count. I can go through a P&ID placing the correct bubble for each item across the document.

Once Complete I create a legend on the 1st page to get my I/O counts for building control panels.

Snapshot> Change Color> Blend

Many times it's easier to take a snapshot of something else to use as a comment or go-by.

Step 1: Use snapshot (G) to select the goby image

Step 2: Past (Ctrl+V) in desired location

Step 3: Right click on image and selcect Change Colors

Step 4: From Drop down select Colorize and select your source and destination color

Step 5: If required modify Blend Mode to desired result

We implemented a variety of tools and workflows here that help with day-to-day functions, which effectively this includes the custom profiles, then toolsets based on the task, and custom tools to work in tandem with our existing processes; similar to what was described by @Vince French above, though we delved into automation/scripting too.

Each of our custom profiles feature typical comment-based markup toolsets pinned to the toolbars with custom iconography showing exactly what colour comment tools you're getting:

Unfortunately recent releases of Revu 21 prevented these custom icons from showing, but they're working to have this restored in 21.9!

Also, I would highly recommend testing out the Grouping function for tools as you can get varying results in the output allowing for creative custom tools; for example, you can accomplish a fillable field by ensuring your tools are combined with a text-tool at the front.
