What’s the Best Way to Measure LF on a Curved Wall?
If you use Polylength, you can convert lines to arc segments by using the right-click menu. Then use the control points get it to align with the curve.
If you just want a measurement that doesn't show up in the Markups list, you can use the Center Radius tool and then turn on the captions. Why these tools don't show their properties in the Markups list is something that I've asked for but has not happened yet.
Since you probably DO want them to appear, go with what Jason said.
@ProGuard Asset Management how accurate do you need to be/do you want to see a curved markup?
Typically we use a Polylength measurement with multiple control points to provide a "chorded" length. This is similar to what was suggested by @Jason Artley, but don't go through the step of converting the segments to arcs. The measured length is basically the same at the tolerance level that we measure to - without having to fit multiple arc segments:
Hope this helps. 😎
What he said ☝️
@David Cutler Thank you! Trying to get as accurate as possible…..
How do I that?
That's a good question @ProGuard Asset Management! I can't say that I've done a deep dive into "accuracy" of my measurements. At this point what we are measuring is "close enough" for our workflow as we are typically totaling up multiple measurements and may very well round to the nearest 5 FT in the case of curb. At the price point we don't win or loose a project based on that item.
I suppose you could shorten the chord lengths between points on the curve. Mine range from 1'-4" to 2' in this example:
@Doug McLean or @Vince French might have some more "in depth" thoughts on this.
Okay, thank you!
Keeping the points as close together as possible is probably the way to go @David Cutler. As you have said these types of measurement are accurate enough for what we need - especially as when measuring kerbs we don't tend to take into account things like any sloping of the ground, etc…
This might be a really obvious one but I can't seem to figure out the best way to do this: I frequently mark up drawing sets for estimates wherein there are multiple pass-through trades under my scope. What I want to do is to be able to do takeoffs for multiple trades, giving them each their own layer that represents them,…
Need help with my cursor and measuring tools. My cursor will only go in a straight line in the measuring tool I am unable to follow a radius or use the measuring tool correctly, it will not follow the cursor but only go in straight lines.
Last night, our Admin team nearly lost their minds. While converting 92 Word documents to PDF, they discovered that the new PDFs were displaying the old versions of the Word documents. Any ideas what caused this and how to prevent or correct the problem if it happens again? They converted perfectly this morning.
Hi. Is anyone experiencing their toolsets randomly removing the first item in the list and replacing it with another? For example, I can open a set and the first one in the list should be say a 3-pole plug, followed by a 4-pole, 5-pole etc. but for some reason the 3-pole plug has been replaced by something random from a…
I have noticed when saving a file as PDF from Word the are sometime several bookmarks listed as "1". Bookmarks are created using Word headers, but there are never any headers named "1". Does anyone know why this happens and how to prevent it?
Is there a way to add together measurements between multiple pages? Say I markup a ton of items as MTL-2 over many pages; is there a way to add them all together? Like the legend below but for all pages with MTL-2
Just did the update this morning. Everything went well except I no longer have the Revu icon. It is just looks like a piece of paper with the right, top corner bent over. Is this the new icon or did something not load correctly?
I did not see this before but lately yes - when you click File/Email on any open file, the email window opening up will have the file attached but the actual file name will have [1] added to the name looking like ***[1].pdf while the subject line shows the original file name. How can I stop this so the file name does not…
I am needing to make comments/remarks on CAD-based file with a lot of layers and small symbols and when i try to select a group of my comments it grabs these - what appear to be random - cad-based linework that came with the original PDF. They have gray grips and i cannot edit those. I understand that I can turn the…
