Hi everyone!

We're bringing back a community favorite for July and August—Shortcuts!

This challenge will run for a couple months, as it's a popular feature. The last time we ran a shortcuts challenge was back in October 2024, and a lot has changed since then. New community members have joined, workflows have evolved, and Revu has continued to receive updates and improvements.

Whether it's a keyboard shortcut, a hidden trick, or a workflow shortcut you've discovered along the way, we'd love to hear what's helping you work more efficiently today.

Refresh your shortcut knowledge and see what new tips the community has picked up over the past couple of years.

Alt-Z to exit a text box (or callout) and autosize the box to the font size. I use this so much I actually replaced the Escape key on my keypad with a macro that plays Alt-Z-Escape.

While we're on the subject of shortcuts, why are the only things available for keyboard shortcuts Tools or Commands? For example, I would LOVE the ability to toggle the Filter List in the Markups List with a keyboard shortcut, but that is unavailable.

A Workflow Tips

One feature I think deserves more attention is the Sequence tool.

Shortcut:

There isn't a default keyboard shortcut for Sequence, but you can quickly access it by right-clicking a markup → Sequence → Define. You can also assign your own shortcut in Revu Preferences > Keyboard Shortcuts.

How I use it:

I select similar markups (doors, windows, devices, equipment, etc.), start a sequence, and simply click each markup in the order I want. Bluebeam automatically numbers them.

Why it's helpful❓

🔹 Eliminates manual numbering
🔹 Keeps markups organized and consistent
🔹 Speeds up QA/QC and site coordination
🔹 Makes it easier to reference items in reports and discussions

Small feature. Big productivity boost. Sometimes the simplest tools save the most time.

New ones I've picked up since last time:

O - Offset (huge for conduit runs)
Ctrl+M - Multiply
Ctrl+Shift+V - Paste in the same location
Also, every markup you use automatically drops into the Recent tool in the toolbox, so your most-used stuff is always one click away instead of digging through menus. Small thing but it adds up over a day of takeoffs.

Still using all my old go-tos too:

Ctrl+Shift+click to copy/move markups in a straight line
Shift+click on a polyline to add/subtract points
G - Snapshot
H - Highlight
T - Textbox
Ctrl+S - Save
Ctrl+F2 - Save all
Ctrl+Right/Left - Next/Previous page

Piggybacking off of Shaya's Ctrl+F2 (save all) at the end of a multi-document markup session, I like Ctrl+Shift+W (Close all).

Another one I use a lot: Ctrl+Shift+C: Format Painter

There are 2 different shortcut types I'd like to highlight, Built-In and Custom. For built-in shortcuts I often use the following:

Reuse Markup Tools (set as ~)
Snapshot (G)
Snapshot Content (SHIFT+G)
Auto-size Text Box (ALT+Z)
Control Points
- With poly-like tools you can hold CTRL to add nodes to line segments, or to remove nodes when hovering on them, and hold SHIFT to convert a control point to a curve.

For custom shortcuts, you have the My Tools tool set where things get assigned to number keys.

We also setup hundreds of custom tools across dozens of network synced Tool Sets to standardize markups.

As well as using many of the above shortcuts (G, Y, O in particular), as I measure a lot of housetype drawings, I like Ctrl + Alt + H to flip a markup to suit a handed house.
You can also use Ctrl +G to select a group of markups then flip them all at once in order so windows, doors, features, etc. all stay in the correct place.
Then use Ctrl + Shift + G to ungroup.
One thing to be aware of though, if you use different layers for your markups then this information will be lost when you group and ungroup - the layer from the default item in your selection will be applied to all.
