Hello everyone,
I'm looking for advice from experienced Bluebeam users regarding a one-time migration of a large inspection project.
I use Bluebeam Revu 20 eXtreme for the annual condition inspections of several multi-storey parking garages.
Over the years, we have created thousands of markups (photos, text boxes, arrows, callouts, comments, etc.). Depending on the floor, there are between 10 and 300 markups, resulting in several thousand markups across approximately 40 floor plans.
Each markup is assigned to a specific Layer, and the Creation Date is also important because we perform annual inspections and track the history of damage over time.
The problem
The owner has now provided new architectural floor plans.
The previous floor plans were not drawn to scale, whereas the new plans are accurately scaled (1:200).
In addition, some parking spaces have been renumbered and a few have been slightly modified.
Because the old and new drawings have different scales, all existing markups must be:
- grouped,
- proportionally scaled,
- repositioned,
- and finally ungrouped.
Unfortunately, after doing this I encounter two major problems:
- The individual Layer assignments of the markups are lost after grouping/ungrouping.
- The Creation Date is also replaced with the current date.
My priorities
- Preserving the Layer assignments is by far the highest priority.
- If possible, preserving the original Creation Date would also be highly desirable.
Additional information
- This is a one-time migration only.
- Once the markups have been transferred to the new scaled floor plans, our yearly inspection workflow will continue as before.
- We are not looking for a permanent synchronization solution—only the best workflow for this single migration.
My questions
- Has anyone successfully completed a similar migration?
- Is there a workflow that allows proportional scaling of existing markups while preserving their Layer assignments?
- Has anyone used XFDF, Slip Sheet, Batch Slip Sheet, or another method for this purpose?
- Is there a plug-in, script, or third-party tool that can accomplish this?
- Would upgrading to Bluebeam Revu 21 (Core, Complete, or Max) provide any advantage for this specific workflow?
Any suggestions or real-world experience would be greatly appreciated.
