Hi Bluebeam Community,
I wanted to share an issue we’re having in my team related to PDF printing from Excel when using Bluebeam Print to PDF alongside Microsoft Print to PDF. Here’s what happens:
- We have Bluebeam Print to PDF set as the default printer, and the scaling is set to 100%. We adjust the print areas in Excel accordingly, so that the content fits perfectly on one page.
- However, if a second user opens the same Excel workbook but has Microsoft Print to PDF set as their default printer—even with scaling still at 100%—what used to print as one page using Bluebeam now prints as two pages using Microsoft Print to PDF.
- This causes the print area and formatting to shift unexpectedly, requiring manual resizing or column adjustments.
- The problem is compounded when the workbook has multiple sheets, all affected similarly.
Is this a known bug or limitation? Should we avoid mixing Bluebeam PDF printer and Microsoft PDF printer settings within the same team when working with Excel print layouts? What is the best practice to ensure consistent print area and scaling regardless of the PDF printer used?
I would expect both Bluebeam and Microsoft PDF printers to respect the same print area and scaling settings in Excel, but in our experience, that’s not the case.
Thanks for any insights or solutions you can provide!
Best regards,
Andres Castillo
