"My Tools" Disappeared (RESOLVED, May Also Apply to "Recent Tools")

Has anyone had this problem, or know a solution for it? The "My Tools" section of the Tool Chest has disappeared from my screen entirely, and it's not shown as hidden. As a result, I cannot use the numbered hotkeys for tools anymore. I have signed out of my account, restarted my computer, and reinstalled Bluebeam, but nothing has worked. Resetting the settings in preferences makes "My Tools" reappear, but all my preferences were reset as well. So, I restored using a backup, but that made "My Tools" disappear again. I would like not to have to manually restore my old preferences after resetting to the default settings if possible, but I cannot figure out why "My Tools" could have disappeared.

  • UPDATE: I FIXED IT

I restored my preferences using the backup I had made, then added a My Tools tool set to the profile that was missing it (Revu). Specifically, I imported the one in the unzipped backup file since the other profiles had it, but the hotkey functionality was missing due to one profile missing it. Next, I created a new backup with all my preferences and profiles enabled and the broken My Tools section showing. Lastly, I restored using this new backup, and the My Tools tool set with the hotkey functionality enabled had successfully reappeared in my Tool Chest.

I sent the following generic summary to the support rep that helped me, as I think this may help in case someone is missing the Recent Tools section as well or for others dealing with similar problems in different circumstances:

    1. Ensure the software has their desired profile and settings, even if it is in the broken state (either My Tools or Recent Tools broken or missing).
      1. If they have already reset the software in the Revu > Preferences > Admin tab, they should be able to restore their profiles and settings using the automatically generated backup zip file located in C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Bluebeam Software\Revu in the subfolder 20 or 21, depending on the version (AppData may be a hidden folder in the file explorer you have to turn on in View > Show > Hidden items).
    2. Ensure every profile has the desired tool set. It can possibly be added just by creating a new tool with the same name or by turning on the setting to apply it to all profiles if another profile has it. The safest way is to export it from a profile that does have it and importing it to the desired profile (if none have it, reset the software and export it from the default profile).
    3. Save a backup to a secure location of your desired profiles and preferences, with the broken, imported tool set(s) included, from the Revu > Preferences > Admin tab.
    4. From the same tab, restore the software using the newly saved backup zip file.
      1. If this doesn't work, reset the software first, then restore it with the zip file, I can't remember whether I had to reset it first or not. I don't think so.
    5. When the software starts back up, all the profiles and preferences should appear as desired with the formerly broken or missing tool set restored to full functionality.
