Miter counts

A lot of the cost installing running trim is corner miters. It would be great if, while using Polylength, the app would could keep a count for each time the direction of a continuous changes, keeping track of the total number of miters required.

I know one can use the count function, but that means stopping at each change of direction to increase the count, and then restarting the polylength line.

Something that you could try @Braxton is using the "split all" option once you have completed your polylength measurement. This would provide a count of all of the segments of that polylength in the markups list.

Unfortunately it's a bit of a nuclear option since you can't reconnect the segments once you split them, but it is one way to get the information that you are looking for.

Have not used split before, will give it a try. I am thinking; flatten any lines I don't want to split/count, then Control + Z, after getting the count.

If it is important to your workflow/downstream use to maintain the single polylength measurement you could always copy the sheet to another PDF and then split the markup in that file.

You mention flattening lines that you don't want to split/count. Are you using custom named polylength tools for your markups? If not try creating a couple of custom tools where they are named - say crown molding for example. That way you can select only the crown molding markups to split - as apposed to having to figure out which polylengths are which.

Will do. Have not looked at it yet, I thought when you said nuclear, it would apply to all polylength lines.

Yes, I do use custom polylength lines. Being able to apply specific lines will do the trick.

Hi David,

This is a good workaround. Was initially thinking I would need to deduct any straight runs, without miters, but then realized all ends have to be cut. Just take the count and multiple by 2. A BIG HELP.
