GROUPED ELEMENTS DON'T STAY IN THE CORRECT ORDER

I have created elements consisting of a filled shape with text inside. The text is on top so that it shows, but sometimes (without provocation), the text is blocked by the filled shape. As you can see below, the correct element is on the left, and the element on the right has changed (all by itself).

Here's another example where the order has changed on its own.

The only way I know how to fix these is to ungroup each element individually and reorder them. Is there a way to 1. make the elements "locked" in the correct order and 2. easily fix all the wrong ones? (There are A LOT! Plus, I don't know if it might happen again.)

Can you use snapshots (of the grouped items) or does the text need to be editable?

How many items are contained in the markup? From the looks of it I assume it's a polygon with a text box in front of it. You could add them to your toolbox in a locked state (right click on the markup then select "Lock" -or- select the markup then press crtl+shift+L) but you would need to unlock them in order to modify the text.

When you grouped them was the text box the primary markup i.e. were the "handles" yellow like the capture below? If the polygon were yellow instead of the text box, that may be your issue.

The simplest solution might be to use a text box in place of your custom markup. Unfortunately you would lose the radii on the corners which looks nice.
