Specification Bookmarks

Detect every CSI-format specification section in the active Bluebeam Revu PDF and create a hierarchical bookmark tree — bold division parents grouping the section bookmarks beneath them. Use whenever the user says "bookmark the specifications", "bookmark the spec sections", "create spec bookmarks", or any equivalent request to build bookmarks from a CSI MasterFormat specification document. Handles MasterFormat 2004 6-digit numbers (spaced and unspaced), legacy MasterFormat 95 5-digit numbers, and parenthetical legacy references inside section headers.

Overview

Build a two-level bookmark tree for a CSI MasterFormat specification PDF in Bluebeam Revu:

Parent bookmarks (bold) — one per CSI division present in the document, named Division XX - <Division Name>, pointing to the first page of the first section in that division.
Child bookmarks (regular weight) — one per detected specification section, named ## ## ## - SECTION TITLE, pointing to the first page of that section.

All bookmark destinations use FitH with parameters=[-32768] so the page lands at the standard fit-width zoom.

I love the idea of this, but I think it would be hard to implement because of all the different page setups people use.

Does your office create a PDF for each section and then combine them into a single file? If so, I think you can import bookmarks from the individual files to the combined file. You may have to manually create Parent/Child relationships (drag and drop), but that should get you most of the way there.

I just did a quick test on some of my most recent specs. I highlighted several Word documents, right-clicked and chose "Combine in Revu". When it was done, the bookmarks were present and formatted by List Numbers.
