Exported from AutoCAD, if text is on a layer named "Plan-Notes" then highlighting it should put the markup on the same layer so when the Plan-Notes layer is turned off the text and highlighted markup is not visible and vice versa.
Here's an AI version of the request:
Feature Request: Layer-Aware Highlighting for AutoCAD-Exported PDFs
When a PDF is exported from AutoCAD and contains text on a named layer (e.g., "Plan-Notes"), any highlight markup applied to that text should automatically be placed on the same layer. This would ensure that toggling layer visibility affects both the text and its associated highlight markup consistently — when the layer is turned off, both the text and the highlight are hidden, and when the layer is turned on, both are visible.
Seems like a pretty niche request. I would assume this is only for highlighting that 'snaps' to the text content. Otherwise impossible for freehand highlighter to know what it is drawing over, especially when there are multiple layers under it. Honestly don't see this getting implemented without more specifics on the purpose and use cases.
If all other layers are turned off except Plan-Notes then the highlighter would know which layer to use, right?
Interesting idea @Mark Cook. I guess you could do this manually - IF you could determine what content is on what layer. If you are working on a number of highlights to a specific layer you could create a custom highlighting tool with that layer setting.
