My usage for Bluebeam seems atypical from most users. Capitol works Civil Inspector, trying to use BlueBeam primarily for As-Built drawings, as well as daily tracking on my laptop.
Currently trying to set up Sketch-to-Scale Polyline templates in specified layers/colours/sizes/units across multiple toolboxes. Once contractor has completed work, I drop in the correct template polylength, and track placement details. For this to be of any use, the length has to be correct, as it is the basis of payment to the contractor.
I have a rudimentary workflow starting, but it is brutal to work with, not field-friendly, and I'm worried I will abandon this once my workday gets hectic.
The change to BlueBeam I'm picturing would be to easily edit a line length in either properties or markups. Once I've dropped in my correct toolbox template of say 'dia300mm PVC STORM pipe 10m length', place at start point, set correct angle for alignment to drawing by mouse. Then, in either properties or markups, set my field-measured pipe length to 62.5m.
I will also be tracking linear lengths of curb removal, square metre lengths of sidewalks, base & top asphalt, driveways, various landscaping etc. Unfortunately I don't see a simple way of easily tracking these items. I suspect I'll draw a visual item over the drawing, and then drop a customized punch icon that can properly track my accurate field-measurements for each pay item.
I love the power and design of this program so far! I hope I can make it work for me! Thanks
