Why can’t we link/attach a photo to a callout in a project on iPad?

this change from Bluebeam for iPad to Bluebeam cloud just made the program useless. When we are in the field, attaching a photo to a markup was 80% of the point, so when exporting a summary, the photo would be with the callout. How is this most-used feature gone? I am just now finding this out at 1am and have to travel in 5 hours to a job site for a punch walk.
what is the workaround? Bluebeam for iPad was always under-supported, now it’s been replaced with an inferior product.
When will this feature be restored? How was it missed? It’s THE MAIN THING

I think (aka my conspiracy theory is…) that the goal is to push more users to the GoCanvas platform and how it integrates with Revu. For photos, field reports, and other field workflows, GoCanvas is really good for that and does fill a lot of the gap left from the discontinuance of the iPad app. However, it's yet another platform, and yet another subscription. If that's in your time & money budgets, then great! If not, then well struggles will persist until workarounds are found.

I understand the frustration here, especially finding this out right before a punch walk when it’s a workflow you expect to rely on.

Short term, there are a few options depending on what is least disruptive right now. If attaching photos to markups and exporting summaries is critical, the most complete options today are Revu on desktop or Revu for iPad if it is already installed on existing devices. Those still support the workflow you’re describing.

If neither of those works, some teams are temporarily simplifying their workflow in the new mobile app until Capture photo ships later in 2026. I’ve seen users place image markups near shapes or callouts to visually associate photos with punch items. I realize that may not meet your reporting needs, but it has helped some teams keep moving in the short term.

@Jason Artley, I want to acknowledge your comment as well. I respect the work you’ve done to connect users and share Bluebeam workflows. There’s no conspiracy here and no plan to replace Bluebeam (markup-based workflows) with GoCanvas (form-based workflows). The reality is that we had to rebuild mobile from scratch, starting with foundational capabilities that are not paid, which makes prioritizing mobile harder until it can grow into a true revenue driver. We deprecated the old Bluebeam Cloud features in summer 2024 and rebuilt the iOS app from the ground up. While progress may look slow from the outside, the shift to refocusing on “Bluebeam Anywhere” required a reset before we could move forward.

Revu for iPad was not sustainable for two reasons. It was sold as a $10 one time purchase, and it was built on technology from the early days of iPad that modern devices no longer support. New iPads cannot run it reliably, and we are not going to pretend otherwise. That is why it was removed from the App Store.

We are focused on getting back to parity on a foundation that supports consistent, reliable PDF behavior across desktop, web, iOS, and Android while staying compliant with ISO standards. That level of cross platform consistency is hard, and it is why very few companies attempt what Bluebeam does.

I know this does not solve the immediate pain, but restoring field workflows like photo capture tied to markups is a priority, and we are moving in that direction.
