Hi Bluebeam Community and Product Team,
I’d like to share some feedback and suggestions regarding the Space Tools in Bluebeam, hoping to see further enhancements in future releases.
Currently, Spaces can be created manually or imported from a Revit BIM Model, which is a great start. However, the current functionality is quite limited. At the moment, each Space item only allows for basic attributes: Name, Color, and Opacity. It would be incredibly useful if we could add more custom attributes to Spaces.
One feature I do appreciate is that when I add markups within a Space, the Space name is automatically included in the markup’s attributes. This makes it much easier to classify and filter markups by location for take-off and reporting purposes.
To take Space Tools to the next level, I’d like to suggest the following enhancements:
- Create Spaces from CSV: Allow users to import Spaces directly from a CSV file, making it much easier to set up large projects.
- Space List Panel: Similar to the Markups List, a dedicated Space List would allow users to view and update Space attributes in a centralized location.
- Integration with Nemetschek dRofus: Integration with dRofus (a leading room data management solution) would be a huge benefit for projects with complex room data requirements.
- Add Status Attribute for Spaces: Main Contractors often need to track site progress. Allowing users to assign and update a “Status” for each Space would enable real-time progress tracking—especially useful if this could be done via Bluebeam’s mobile apps (e.g., Bluebeam Cloud Apps > Open PDF > Update Space status).
- Export Space Status to CSV: Continuing from the above, the ability to export Space status and other attributes to CSV would streamline site progress reporting.
I believe these enhancements would make the Space Tool much more powerful and valuable for project teams, especially those managing large and complex sites.
