Locking down a line drawn

Question

A problem i am having is that as I move around the print, I accidently grab a previously drawn measurement and drop it someplace else on the print. Is there a way that after I snap a line measurement, I could lock it down so I can't accidentally move it again

I use the middle mouse button (hold down the wheel) and it will pan your drawing without grabbing markups.

Right-click the measurement and choose Lock, or use the Lock column in the Markups List. Once locked, it can't be moved, resized, or deleted until you unlock it the same way.

If you don't want to lock each one individually as you go, select several at once (Ctrl-click or box-select) and lock them together, useful for clearing a batch once you've finished a section of the print.

I haven't found a documented way to make a tool auto-lock every new measurement it creates, so a manual lock after each placement, or periodic batch-locking, looks like the actual workflow for now.
