Rotating Text in Form Fields

I'm trying to use form fields to build a document. Some of the fields need text that is rotated 90°. I realize you can't do angles like 45°, which hopefully gets fixed, but I can't even do a 90° anymore. I set it to rotate to 90°, but the text stays horizontal. Has anyone else run into this? Is there a fix or workaround?

At this point, I have to use a text box which doesn't serve well for what I'm trying to do.

A workaround worth trying is Rotate View rather than rotating the actual page:

Go to View > Rotate View > Rotate Clockwise.
Create the form field while the view is rotated.
Use View > Rotate View > Rotate Counterclockwise to return to the normal view.
Test the field in Forms mode.

This keeps the PDF page orientation unchanged while giving you a different working orientation for the field. I’d test it on a copy first.
