Pen Tool Change

Anyone else noticing the change to the pen tool? The pen tool behavior now simplifies the lines instead of following exactly what is drawn, and is now changing some of my custom tools that were created with the pen tool. It is most noticeable at smaller scales.

Another weird downgrade from Bluebeam that I can't understand. Has anyone else noticed this?

I've noticed the change on both Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines with BB version 21.11.

Hey mate,

A quick workaround

Revu → Preferences (Ctrl+K) → Window → Tablet → set Pen Commitment Interval to 300–600 ms → OK.

Then test the Pen tool again. I hope this setting controls how Revu processes pen strokes and can help with rough or simplified lines.

Thanks for the attempt to help, but this workaround didn't seem to do anything on my PC version of the program. I tried various Interval settings, and it didn't seem to change the behavior at all.

Thanks for testing it. In that case, the Commitment Interval isn’t the cause. Since you’re seeing it in Revu 21.11, I’d treat this as a potential 21.11 Pen tool regression rather than a setting issue. I’d recommend reporting it to Bluebeam Support with a sample PDF and affected Tool Chest file so they can reproduce it.

I noticed this change on 9/3/2026. Markups I made with the pen on Tuesday were very legible, even when sketching very small when zoomed in a lot. Wednesday, making the same markups with the same line weight at the same zoom… they look ok when I'm drawing but then after the pen commitment interval, they get "smoothed" to the point where they are pretty much illegible. Messed with commitment interval, hardware rendering, software rendering, and nothing seemed to fix it. Even copying a markup made on 9/2/2026 and pasting it on 9/3/2026 results in an illegible markup. Frustrating.

We have also noticed this change and are very very frustrated by it. Please fix this ASAP. It is completely unacceptable to draw something and then have BB change it immediately.
