Placing images along a polyline

Hello all, I am often doing traffic sign plans for our construction sites, that we need to submit to authorities for approval. Therefore, we're currently using a software that's not a customer-friendly as Bluebeam, so I thought, maybe I can create an extra profile, where all the traffic signs (in my case the German ones) are stored in sorted tool chests and I can just grab the the signs I need. So far so good.

But I also need to mark the barriers we will put in place around our construction site. In our current software you draw a polyline and it automatically places the image of the desired barrier (black outlining, and red/white stripes). I tried creating a similar custom line style but it just doesn't look as professional, since I can't use different colors, so it would be great, if I could add the image of a barrier in a custom line style.

That’s a really interesting use case! Creating a dedicated Profile and Tool Chest for German traffic signs sounds like a great way to streamline the workflow.

I agree that having the ability to use an image as a custom line style pattern would be a valuable addition. For traffic plans, being able to draw a polyline and automatically repeat a barrier graphic along the line would look much more professional and save a lot of manual work.

Hopefully, Bluebeam considers something like this for a future update!

Agreed, multi color line styles would be huge, image option would be a nice maybe on top of that. One thing I'm curious how it would even work is once it's already placed on the drawing, if you go to change the line color after the fact, which color actually updates and which one stays the same? Seems like that could get confusing fast with more than one color in the style.

@Thea Terner would you mind posting a screenshot or two of what the barrier line looks like in your current software ? Easier for people to picture what the feature request actually needs to do if we can see the end result you're after.

There you can also see the small black line, that is the polyline it uses for placing the image. The actual image of the barrier looks like this:

I know it could get confusing with two line colors to change, that's why I thought about placing the image along a polyline just like the other software.

Not the greatest of solutions but you could just create a white hit & miss line and overlay that over your original red line.
If you have Max then you could just put the white line in your tool chest and do a Duplicate As.

I concur. Its not the fastest solution but it should produce the desired results…

The above is exactly as @Vince described. A solid Red polyline with a dashed White line over the top of it.
