Using markup statuses in a Session created from a Project

Question

Hello, we use markup statuses to track drawing comments and actions on them.

In a 'normal' session we can assign and change markup statuses, which we colour code too.

However, if we set up a Project, and then create a Session using documents in the Project, none of this works. Or at least, we can't get it to work.

There is no way to set or change statuses to markups.

The functionality seems to disappear.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've been following this post for the past few days. I have been working with this issue and trying to get to the bottom of it. After your last reply @Benedict Hassell , I tested your local vs BB Project file prospect and have come to the same result. BB is able to apply Custom Statuses to a file added to a Session directly from a PC location. However, if that same file is uploaded to a BB Project folder and then added to a Session, it contains no Custom Statuses.

This is a very annoying outcome for the BB Design Workflow, as it means you can't use the "Save (Overwrite Existing)" functionality in the "Finish Session" tool or even "Update Project Copy".

I have carried out some more tests and if I upload a PDF e.g. a drawing from our server to the Session, that is, one not originating in the Project, then I can assign statuses to markups on that drawing fine.

So it appears the issue is limited to Project documents in the Session.

Hi Erik and thanks for the response.

Your steps 1-6 work fine.

When I check out a document in the Project I can apply custom statuses to markups by select/right-click.

…and via the markups list.

Step 7 does not work for me.

When I create a new Session from the file in the Project and open the same file (with markup that has been given a custom status visible) in that Session I cannot apply a status to any new markups made in the Session, by any method. The custom statuses have disappeared.
