How can I unflatten a file I have been working on?

I am relatively new to bluebeam and I am working on a set of drawings. One of the drawings has recently stopped me from editing it. I have a lot of shapes and work put into it. I can still edit the text but only if I got to edit → PDF content → edit text. All the shapes and symbols are locked into place I cant select any of them. All of the other documents I still can edit and move all the symbols. I tried clicking the unflatten button on the document but it didnt do anything.

This depends on how your document was flattened. At flattening it's an option to allow Unflatten or not. Try to find an older version of your file. Maybe you can recover at least most of your work.

Restoring a previous version worked! When would you ever want to flatten a document then? I would always want to have a version that I can edit.

One quick thing I'd check is whether the Markups List still shows all your shapes. If they're listed there but you can't select them, it's often a layer, lock, or permissions issue rather than lost data. If the Markups List is empty for that page, the markups may have been permanently flattened. I'd also try opening the PDF on another machine or in a fresh Revu profile to rule out a profile-specific issue. Hopefully your work is still recoverable

I typically only flatten files for distribution. Sending it out to the field staff or another department to ensure the data is not accidently edited/deleted.
