I've been told that Bluebeam Cloud is going to replace Bluebeam Revu on iPad. If that is going to happen then the capability of Cloud needs to at least match what was possible on Revu. Here are some of my thoughts and comments from my field staff that do markups for construction projects from an iPad:
- We use .bex files during design reviews for large project plan sets that are plotted from Civil 3D, Revit, etc. The individual pdf sheets are loaded into a Studio project to access on the iPad and hyperlinks are added to each page to open the next/previous sheet, quick access to the sheet index, etc. It does not appear that those hyperlinks work anymore in Cloud. We've had large plan sets in the past that were too big and would crash the Revu app, this is why we started using individual sheets with hyperlinks to open other sheets. Not having the hyperlink capability in Cloud will severely hinder our use on the iPads.
- In combined PDFs like construction specifications, Revu had the window that would show you are on page "62 of 598". Staff would typically memorize certain pages in the document and routinely use that window to take them to a commonly referenced page number. Cloud does not have a window like that where you can quickly change to a specific page number without opening the Bookmarks or Pages tab.
- One request from my staff was to add a straight line to the markups panel on Cloud. The only similar option is an arrow, but you can also no longer adjust the arrow symbol/size if you do use that. Markup functions like copy, paste, autosize text box, etc. also don't appear to be an option in Cloud.
The functionality of Revu on iPad worked great for my staff, and they continue to use that as long as possible or until the functionality of Cloud meets or exceeds what they are able to do on the Revu app.
