custom columns on markups

I have created a lot of custom toolchests, and have added some custom columns. I have used them on several documents and exported the summaries just fine. Periodically, or when a new team member uses the profile we have shared containing those markups, the custom columns disappear. I need some help.

that's normal.
The custom columns need to be applied (you probably get a pop up window that says this).
Once they're applied though, they stay with the document

Is it the same PDF or a different one?
Are they still in the list and unchecked?

if i start a new pdf from scratch, my custom columns only appear after i place a markup. I have a template pdf that i use to start new projects, and i can't get the custom columns to appear.
