Scale on Ipad

Am I missing something? I was previously using revu ipad in the field for viewing drawings and scaling plans. I have recently updated to a bluebeam subscription and downloaded the new app on the ipad, I have not been able to figure out how to scale on the ipad. I have been able to do this on the web app on my computer but not on the ipad. Being able to use the scale tool on the ipad is a major reason I use bluebeam on my ipad rather than any other pdf markup program.

I am regretting upgrading to the subscription at this point as I cannot utilize the ipad in the field which was one of my main reasons for moving to the subscription along with being able to work from home.

Hi @Brandon Tinnell,

You can set the page scale on iPad for both Studio Project files (that you've checked out) and your personal local files. To do this from the editor, tap the three dots in the top right corner and select "Set Page Scale." Once you've set the scale, you can place measurements using the units you assigned. On iPad, measurement tools are at the bottom of the left toolbar.

Alternatively, if you've already set the page scale or viewport scale before transferring the plans to your iPad, you can measure directly on the document using that pre-defined scale. This feature will also be available in a couple of weeks in Studio Sessions.

Is there a way to set a custom scale by picking two points and entering a known distance to drawings that are otherwise un-scalable? Looks like there are boxes for filling in a custom scale, but if you can't measure until a scale is set, how do you know what factors to enter? Or am I missing something?

Hi @Joe W,

Great question. You’re not missing anything. In our January release, we introduced basic page scaling by manually entering known values. This is meant to be a quick, field-friendly way to get measurements when you’re away from your desk.

What you’re describing, picking two points on the drawing and defining the known distance between them, is typically called a Calibrate workflow. We don’t support that yet on mobile. It’s a simpler and more intuitive approach, and it’s something we plan to introduce in a future release.

Measurements were only added last month, so we intentionally kept the initial scale experience lightweight while we focused on core field workflows like Tool Sets and image capture. Improving scale setup, including adding a Calibrate option, is something we’re actively considering as part of our longer-term roadmap.
