How do I Add Custom Tools to the Bluebeam Cloud App on iPadOS?

I'll start by saying that I'm concerned with how the Bluebeam Cloud app for iPad functions compared to the old Bluebeam iPad app for our companies work flow. We have a set of custom .btx files we use to create punch lists during deficiency reviews on our iPads.

How do I load our custom .btx files into the Bluebeam Cloud iPad app?

I was able to load the .btx files into Bluebeam Cloud through the browser interface on my PC but they do not appear in iPad app. I have tried navigating to the .btx files from Bluebeam Cloud on my iPad through my OneDrive app, but they are greyed out. I have tried 'opening the files in another app' from the OneDrive app but Bluebeam Cloud is not in the list of options, it was the same if I downloaded the .btx file to my iPad storage and tried to open in another app from there. I only get Bluebeam Cloud as an option if trying to open a .pdf file.

I've been tasked with testing to see if Bluebeam Cloud is a viable option to replace the discontinued iPad Review app. I'm not off to a great start.

At this time, it is not possible. I believe that functionality is planned for an upcoming release. Timeline for that has not been announced.

Hi @James Reid, Jason is correct, and I’ll add a bit more context.

We’re actively working on BTX toolset support for iOS, starting with an offline-only implementation. The initial release will allow you to import a toolset directly into the iOS app and use it offline. Toolsets will not sync from web to mobile in that first release that we're targeting sometime in Q2.

It’s also important to note that toolsets are built on top of core markup support. If a toolset contains markup types that the mobile app doesn’t support yet, those tools won’t work. More advanced markup types are coming later, some not until next year (e.g. stamps). If your BTX files are made up of the basic markups we support today, those tools will work in the initial release.

Thanks for the information.

Hopefully these features can be added to Bluebeam Cloud before we lose access to Bluebeam Revu on our iPads. Otherwise it will impact our workflow for deficiency reviews.

Our notes are just circles, polygons, fills and text, pretty basic stuff so I'm hoping we will be okay there.

@James Reid, sounds great! You should have no problem continuing to Revu for iPad with Apple IDs that have previously purchased it. If you need to install it on a new device, go to App Store → Profile → My Apps and you should see it listed there.
