Select all markups for a given tool

lets say while reviewing a drawing i use pen (with green highlight) to highlight all text that i find correct and use red callouts/clouds to mark my comments. while Using the pen tool, i'm reviewing the whole drawing and not missing anything. But when submitting the drawing, i would prefer to provide the drawing only with red markups so as to keep the drg tidy and and its easy to view.

it would be great if we are able to select all markups done by a specific tool.

Create a custom column titled "Tool Name" and assign each tool a name in that column. Filter or sort by that column. You could also assign a layer to each category of tool and turn on or off as needed.

I think Don's suggestion of using layers might be the best option. An easy way to do this would be, after you have completed all of your markups, utilize the filter option on the Markup List and filter down using the 'Color' column to filter only the Red Markups. Then select all of the Markups in the filtered list (Ctrl+A) and then Right Click and apply a layer to these.

Alternatively, if you know this is how you are going to do this every time, you should setup a tool chest that already has the layer applied to your Red Highlight and so would already be applied when put apply the highlight.

One option you could try @sam3990 is to create custom Pen Tools. That way, if you sort your markups list by Subject all of the "Pen Red" markups and "Pen Green" markups would be together:

Starting with "Pen" rather than the color value keeps all of your markups closer together in the markups list.

Depending upon your workflow you could select all of the "Correct" items, delete them and then save the file as a "Comments only" copy.
