Adding search to tool sets was a huge feature add. This suggestion is similar. I'm suggesting adding a search function to the layers panel.
As a site contractor I'm always thrilled when I received a PDF for takeoff that includes layers as the ability to turn layers on/off can greatly streamline and simplify the takeoff process - if you can find the layer that you are looking for! Typically the layer names being provided seem to be some sort of consultant specific code with, if your lucky, a key word that you are looking for. Being able to search for "curb" or "silt fence" or "contour" in a layer name when the layer list contains dozens of layers could be a huge time saver.
