π Proposal: Admin Lock for Import/Export of Profiles, Preferences, and Custom Columns
Problem:
Currently, any user can import/export Revu configuration elements (Profiles, Preferences, Custom Columns). These contain proprietary workflows, standards, and estimating structures that companies consider intellectual property. Without control, employees may:
- Export IP when leaving the company.
- Import altered or external profiles that disrupt standardized workflows.
- Modify configurations, causing inconsistencies across teams.
Proposed Feature:
- Admin-controlled lock setting (enable/disable import/export).
- Granular options: lock all or individually (Preferences / Profiles / Custom Columns).
- Access control: Only IT/administrators (via license manager, AD group, or company login) can override.
- Optional audit log: Track attempts to import/export when locked.
Benefits:
- Protects company IP.
- Maintains workflow consistency across all users.
- Strengthens enterprise security posture.
- Reduces IT support load from users breaking configurations.
