Hi Bluebeam Community,
I’m an experienced AutoCAD and Revit user with over 10 years in the industry, and I’ve been using Bluebeam for the past 3 years. While Bluebeam has become an essential part of my workflow, I believe there are opportunities to further enhance its measurement tools by drawing inspiration from established features in AutoCAD and Revit.
1. Length Measurement by Picking Lines:
In Bluebeam, the current workflow for length measurement requires users to pick points manually along a line. In comparison, Revit allows users to select entire lines directly using the "Pick Line" method when overlaying PDFs or CAD drawings. This approach is faster, more precise, and reduces manual errors. I believe integrating a similar “Pick Line” feature in Bluebeam would greatly improve accuracy and efficiency for users working with complex drawings.
2. Enhancing Dynamic Fill – One-Click Hatch Creation:
The Dynamic Fill tool in Bluebeam is already a powerful feature for quick area measurement and markup. It reminds me of the Hatch tool in AutoCAD, where users can create hatch patterns within closed loops with a single click. If Bluebeam could further enhance the Dynamic Fill tool to allow for one-click creation of fills in closed areas—similar to AutoCAD’s hatch—it would make the process even more efficient and user-friendly.
Summary:
- Add a “Pick Line” option for length measurement, allowing users to select lines directly instead of clicking individual points.
- Enhance the Dynamic Fill tool to enable one-click fill creation for closed areas, similar to AutoCAD’s Hatch feature.
I hope these suggestions are helpful, and I’d love to hear if others in the community would find these features beneficial as well. Looking forward to your thoughts!
