It would be a great bonus to be able to split an area measure.
This is advantageous for breaking works completed from an overall measure. The cut-out function does not allow a separation and break to create 2 new independent areas.
It would be a very useful feature to be able to split area measurements so that two separate measurements can be created from one. This way, I could edit previous measurements without having to delete them entirely and redo them twice. The polygon cut-out function cannot solve this task.
While not exactly what you are looking for, the easiest way I can think of to do this would be the following:
-Create an area measurement of the overall area
-select it and paste in same place (Crtl+Shift+V)
-While that pasted element is still selected, adjust the boundaries (tip - holding shift and selecting nodes will delete those nodes for easier boundary adjustment of complex shapes).
-Lastly, you'll have to follow the same step as above to adjust the initial area measurement boundary.
Edit - Accidental respost…See above
While not exactly what you are looking for, if you create an overall area measurement, then copy and paste in same place (ctrl+shift+v), you can then edit the boundaries of each of your area measurements by dragging the nodes on the boundary (tips if you hold shift and click a node, it will delete). Then you will have to go through the same process for the other area boundary.
Could there be a tool which could split area & length measurements along a line or polyline in a single action? In the below example i would like to split/separate my Road area measurement, as well as the linier measure for kerbs along the red line to allow me to allocate the markups into separate spaces/layers etc?
I assume this could operate similarly to the Polygon/ellipsis cut out feature and have a razorblade icon or something?
Bump
I have been using Bluebeam for many years now and still think this tool would be a big help. I'm constantly having to complete a full re-measure of a site when there are changes to the scope, or the phasing of the works.
If i have a take off of thousands of meters of roads, footpaths, kerbs, drainage, landscaping, fencing etc. being able to split/chop a markup into separate markups could save me hours of work on every project. Its an extremely laborious task with a seemingly simple solution?
This is a great idea @JJones! My work around at this point is to start by breaking up larger takeoff areas from the start, that way, when (not if), I need to adjust the limits I'm only moving a few points rather than having to start all over again.
Are you aware of the "split" option for your length measurements? While not a clean as you suggested "razor" tool would be it is a great option for breaking longer measurements into smaller sections rather than deleting and starting over.
Thanks @David Cutler! I have also learnt my lesson on a few of the really big ones and have started break them up where i can.
I actually didn't know about the Split function on the Linier lengths! that will help a lot so thanks!
Glad to share @JJones! How about the option to "resume" on polylength or perimeter markups? Do you know that one? Simply right click on the control point that you want to continue on from and select "resume".
Still not possible in 2025 ?
Exactly my thoughts. The only suggestion would be to determine the most complex part of the area and apply this method to reduce it to the desired area and create a new area for the remaining part.
Please add the ability to allow some users to edit/delete other peoples comments. This can be controlled through permissions. At our organisation when reviewing drawings there is a review manager that consolidates comments before sending them back. This process occurs regardless of if we are using Bluebeam or another tool.…
Add folders for studio sessions to organize the list of recent Studio sessions. Some of our clients utilize one Studio session per deliverable on large projects that have multiple reviewers. It can be quite a task to find the one studio session for a smaller project amidst the rows and rows of studio sessions per…
With more people using bluebeam as a CAD/drawing program. It would be nice if bullet points/numbers points with auto text indent was a feature.
It would be helpful to have an autosave function for PDFs being used in Revu. Currently this does not exist and would be very beneficial.
It would be a huge time saver to have keyboard shortcuts for assigning markup statuses. Numerous workflows (e.g. QA/QC and design reviews, punch/back-check) involve multiple status changes for markups, and often times there are multiple statuses (or state models) to choose from. On large projects, with 100's if not 1,000's…
This has been requested many many times in the past by many Revu users. WHY is there STILL no numbered/bulleted list function??
It would be great be able to see to whom and when the "alert attendee" has been done. Today you can see exactly who and when markups has been accepted but there are no info at all if a markup has been alerted to someone.
