Measuring Area of Polygon Markups

Is it possible to measure the area of existing polygons without tracing around the shape again? If not, this would be a useful feature. It would save a lot of time.

This would be such an important feature and I don't understand why polygon shape and area measurement are two completely separated features that are incompatible with each other.
