Automark picking up Watermark Text in Title Blocks

A number of drawings we receive from clients are watermarked and/or password protected as well but are not hyperlinked which slows everything down. When I create bookmarks and page labels using Automark, the watermark text that crosses the drawing title block is being picked up as well and in order to get Batch Link to work properly I have to go back and manually edit bookmarks or page labels which can take a while. Has anyone figured out a way to parse out watermark text or get Automark to not pick it up?

Can the document be unflattened? If the watermark turns back into a markup, the title block can be scanned correctly.
In the second image, the watermark has been flattened. Scanning captures characters that I don't need.
