cannot reorder pages in thumbnails

Does anyone know why I can suddenly no longer reorder pages in thumbnails? I'm hoping that someone has found a solution to this issue. Bluebeam support can't seem to address this question in a timely fashion due to an overload of tech support questions.

It appears to be a global issue as page reordering no longer will work for even for newly created files. I'm hoping that it is simply a switch that I might have stumbled upon that can be reversed.

  • Hi @steveatasg - what happens when you click and drag a thumbnail/page in the Thumbnails Panel?

Ryan….Thank you for responding. To answer your question, the cursor changes to a red circle with a line through it.

  • I might check Document Security (CTRL + L). I changed permissions on a test doc and restricted document changes.

I went back to the Thumbnails Panel and I was not able to reorder my pages. I saw the icon that you did.

  • I looked in Doc Security and it confirms that Changing the Document is Allowed.

  • Thanks for checking that! A digital signature also prevents me from reordering. Could that be the case?

  • I find that I'm able to drag and drop pages from external PDF's into thumbnails, as well as cut and paste pages, but I'm no longer are able to move pages around using drag and drop. I hope this additional information helps.

I thought about that too! I was working with a document that contained digital signature pages and thought sure….this could be it. So…..I tested the theory by closing Revu and reopening it fresh. I started a new page and created two blank sheets and tried to move them in thumbnails and got the same red circle with a line through it.

Then I tried repairing the Software by re-installing and selecting Repair. No dice.

That's when I threw up my hands and contacted Bluebeam support. Then I saw this community site and signed up. I really appreciate your trying to help. I'm really frustrated with this one.

  • Continuing the discussion from yesterday, I spoke to three Bluebeam tech support professionals, two temporarily solved the issue, but it returned despite reproducing their steps to solve the issue. The third tech support person, didn't even give it a try after reading the case notes and referred me back to the second support person I spoke to, who has yet to call me back. (it's only been a few hours)

Anyway, the latest solution that seemed promising was to uninstall Bluebeam, then re-install followed by resetting Bluebeam to default conditions. That worked once, then the issue returned this morning. I repeated the uninstall / reinstall and reset to defaults….but this time it didn't work at all.

After all this, it seems that there is a bug in Bluebeam that has emerged. It happened all of a sudden on 2/18/2024, so I'm wondering if it could be due to an update push in Bluebeam or possibly windows.

Has anyone else had an issue with not being able to reorder pages when in Thumbnails?

After uninstalling Bluebeam, have you done disk cleanup actions? I think this process has fallen out of favor in the tech support world, but if there are files that get left behind during the uninstall process they could carry over after the reinstall. Defrag is probably less useful in this case, but my mom (a 90s era web designer) taught me to do both when cleaning up my disk space so that's what I usually do when things don't stick after a re-install. No promises of course, but that would be my next step if the reinstall offered temporary relief.

Edit: Just want to add that I was unable to replicate your issue with my own documents, so I really don't know where else to look for the issue, other than in the computer itself. I thought maybe it had something to do with how sets can automatically organize, but I couldn't think of a way for that to cause your problems if the program is otherwise working well.
