Split polyline markups

I would like the ability to split a single existing markup polyline into multiple polylines at a control point. The 'sketch-to-scale-polyline' ALMOST has the functionality I'm looking for, but I'm not trying to split out an individual segment of the polyline. Instead, I'd like the ability to break a long polyline into two markups, keeping all control points intact on either side of the break. Autocad had a similar function with polylines, if you're looking for a comparative feature.

    In short: tracing an architectural background with the polyline is usually most efficient if drawn all at one time. This often results in a VERY long single markup polyline with many control points. After drawing the polyline, we want to modify its appearance in different sections for a variety of reasons (different design criteria, different detailing, etc.) This option would allow for us to easily and efficiently customize our markups..

    That would be a great feature. I have had to do this in the past and found that adding a control point between the 2 control points at the point of separation, then splitting the new segment you've created and deleting it works best. I am going to upvote this, as performing this with a couple clicks would be a little faster.

    The steps go like this ↓

    Add a control point - with either the Right click drop down.

    Or simply hold down the "Shift" Key and there will be a small "+" next to your cursor and Left Click to place it where you want it.

    Right click on, and Split the section you don't need.

    Select and Delete that small section.

    All that's left to do is grab the control point of that next piece of takeoff and pull it to the previous intersection.

    This leaves all control points as they are and effectively splits the takeoff into 2 pieces of Markup.

    Once you get it down it only takes about 2.5 - 3 seconds. That can add up so if you know this needs to be done ahead of time, I suggest you perform your takeoff that way in the first place.

    to do this quickly I have found that when you get to the point that you want to separate the takeoffs, don't just Double-Click to end the use of the tool…. However, triple click so it closes the takeoff and starts the next takeoff immediately in that same spot.

    Double Click stops it ↓

    Triple Click, lets you continue from that termination point ↓

    Triple click will definitely save you time and help you avoid having to ensure you snap to the previous takeoff.

    James - thanks! Note that your approach only works when using sketch-to-scale polylines and that the Split feature you're using is not present for standard Shift+N polyline markups. I gather we could ALWAYS use the sketch-to-scale polyline instead of the non-scaled version, but the standard polyline tool exists and this would be a used feature for my firm if it existed.

    I tried it with Polyline and it looks like since Polyline has no dimensional value there in turn is no value associated with each section that can be sectioned out. It's merely a line with no value.

    The only tools that it works with are measurement tools. Polylength, Perimeter Measurement, and Polyline Sketch.

    You can ignore the scale and just use the default 1:1 / 1'=1/4" or whatever it is set to and continue without using the values returned in the markup, using them as merely lines.

    Make sure to turn off / Click the "Show Caption" box to avoid having any values shown.

    I would like to see this feature for Polyline as well. Hopefully more people up-vote it and it gets front burner'd.
