How do I create a stitched drawing?

Add regions to define drawing areas

Mark the areas on each sheet that contain the drawing content you want to include in your stitched result.

To add regions to your drawing sheets, follow these steps:

Open the PDF containing the sheets you want to combine.
Go to Document > Stitching to open the stitching panel.
Select Select Region.
Select the drawing content on each sheet. You don't need to select Select Region again as you go through each sheet.
- Drag to select a rectangular region.
- Select points to create a custom region. Double-click the last point to close the shape.

In the Stitching panel, select the down arrow next to each sheet thumbnail to view the regions and matchlines associated with that sheet.

Add matchlines

Matchlines are reference points that align sheets that connect in the drawing. Look for matchline markers on your drawing, often labeled with station numbers or coordinates.

While naming your matchlines is optional, we recommend using the station numbers or coordinates shown on the drawing to make matchlines easier to identify when matching.

Enable Snap to content to automatically snap to matchline markers on your sheets.

To add matchlines, follow these steps:

Select Add Matchline
Select both endpoints of a matchline or matchlines on each sheet. You don't need to select Add Matchline again as you go through each sheet.

Matchlines must be in a region.

In the Stitching panel, you can select the default matchline name to change the name.

Match matchlines

After adding all regions and matchlines, match each matchline to its corresponding matchline on connecting sheets.

To match matchlines, follow these steps:

In the S.titching panel, expand each page.
Select the Match to dropdown list for a matchline.
Choose the corresponding matchline from the sheet to connect.
Repeat for all matchlines until all are matched.

If you attempt to stitch your drawings with incomplete matches, Revu will highlight matchlines that don't have corresponding matches.

Stitch your drawings

To create your stitched drawing, select Stitch Drawings. Select Include markups in stitching results to include a flattened version of markups in the combined drawing.

The stitched result combines all selected drawing areas into one continuous view made up of individual snapshots. You can use this combined drawing for takeoffs, markups, or sharing with your team

Technical questions when creating a stitched drawing

Can I have multiple matchlines on a page?

Yes! You'll need to create matchlines in Revu for each direction.

Quadrant stitch example:

Draw two matchlines on each quadrant, then match side-by-side and top-to-bottom.

Can I stitch drawings with different scales?

Not yet, but this is a feature improvement we are tracking. You can always submit this as a feature suggestion to our product team.

Working with your stitching drawing

Do I need to flatten the stitched document first and then add a scale to place markups?

Yes, stitching does not remember scale once stitche

Does stitching pull in markups, or is it just a snapshot of the page?

The visual markups appear on the stitched result. However, the markup data itself is not preserved as editable markup records. The stitched page is essentially a snapshot of the source pages with the markups visible.

When architects issue revised PDFs, do you have to manually stitch again?

Yes. Since the revised set is a new document, the stitching process must be repeated. Lucas noted this could be valuable product feedback for future enhancements.

Best Practice Questions

When stitching drawings, would you still keep the original separate pages with match lines?

This is a matter of personal preference.

One tip: insert the stitched page into the drawing set so it can be included, but users can also keep it as a personal review document

If someone else created the markup, do you take ownership of it in the stitched drawing?

No. The stitched result is a snapshot and does not preserve markup ownership or markup-list data.
