I stopped printing drawings to walk the site.
The old routine looked like this: a printed set under one arm, a pen in the other hand, every deviation marked in the margin as I walked the floor. By the time I got back to the office, that marked-up sheet had to be read back, interpreted, and re-typed into whatever tracker or email the rest of the team actually looks at. Two separate jobs for one piece of information, and the second job only happens hours after the first one, if the sheet doesn't get left in the van or the handwriting doesn't get misread first.
That gap is where things get missed. A deviation flagged at 9am on site doesn't reach anyone else until it's been rewritten that afternoon, and a printed set is already out of date the moment it leaves the printer, so there's a real chance the issue I'm marking has already been addressed in a revision I'm not holding.
Markups now go straight onto the live drawing set on a tablet, on site, in real time. Bluebeam's Studio Sessions keep that file synced, so the same markup the rest of the team sees is the one I placed, against the current revision, not a printed snapshot from last week. No re-typing, no second pass, no gap between finding an issue and the team knowing about it.
