Hi Bluebeam team,
I’m a long‑time Bluebeam user (Revu 21.9) and currently on a Bluebeam Max trial, but I’m unable to adopt the AI‑enabled features in my organisation because of the security and compliance implications of the Claude Desktop app requirement.
For many construction and project‑based businesses, installing a third‑party AI desktop app that runs in the background, hooks into browsers, and can execute commands raises significant info‑security, privacy, and endpoint‑management concerns. Even if the intent is to use it for document review and measurements, the fact it has local‑machine access and “computer‑use” capabilities makes it a hard “no‑go” for locked‑down corporate environments.
That’s a shame, because I love Bluebeam Max’s other features (Stitching, Magic Markups, AI‑reviews, etc.) and I use Bluebeam for hours every day across takeoffs, and contract documentation. If I could use Max without requiring Claude Desktop on every workstation, I’d be much more likely to adopt it fully.
To keep Max viable for regulated and security‑conscious businesses, I’d like to suggest:
- A web‑based or cloud‑only AI integration (e.g., via a secure web connector or API) that doesn’t require a local desktop app with full system access.
- Or, integration with Microsoft 365 Copilot / Azure‑hosted AI models, so businesses can leverage their existing M365 security stack instead of adding a new external app.
- Alternatively, an optional “light” AI mode that runs server‑side from Bluebeam’s infrastructure, with no local desktop agent at all.
As it stands, if the Claude Desktop app remains the only way to use Bluebeam Max’s AI, the upgrade is unfortunately not worth the cost for my business, even though I’d otherwise be a strong advocate for Max. But if you can address this security barrier, I’d be very happy to commit to Max long‑term.
Thanks for your time and for the work you’re doing on Max; I’m keen to align with your roadmap if the security model can be adjusted accordingly.
