I have not found a way to create bookmarks for a spec book that only includes the first page for each spec section. I do not want to bookmark individual pages within a spec section. The bookmarks should mirror the table of contents.
Are you are suggesting a way to export from Word, but be able to determine which headers create the bookmarks in Bluebeam?
That too, but I'm talking about a pdf spec book.
I agree this should be the default option as well. The current state of Create Bookmark using the Page Region option (I guess this is called AutoMark) is as below.
These duplicated bookmarks would seem redundant. It should automatically keep the first bookmark containing the chapter title and delete the rest.
Below is the expected result preferred, currently I had to manually delete each duplicate after AutoMark. It is even faster to create the bookmark manually rather than AutoMark in this scenario.
Hope this will be improved.
My current workaround for this is to create the bookmarks as I review the document. When I get to a new section I select the header text and with a quick "Ctrl-B" keystroke I have the bookmark that I want.
This might be a good task for Claude in Max. What do you think @Luke Prescott?

We've included the "Create Bookmarks" command in the MCP integration in Bluebeam Max. This is one of ~30 different commands.
This effectively would allow a user to 'describe their bookmark structure' and LLM could either return a draft of how it it would update the bookmarks, or just update the bookmarks automatically.
I ran a quick test and got the expected results of having the bookmark structure mirror the table of contents. I recommend give it a try through a trial of Max. After doing so, I'd be curious to get your feedback.
The Core subscription suits our company best thus upgrading to Max is not feasible. We hope the Bluebeam team can improve this feature instead of having users needing to rely on LLM. This solution would be a bit disappointing for Core users.
Current state of Automark seems half baked. It's only appropriate of single sheet drawings.
Is it not possible to hard code the Automark to read if a bookmark with the same name already exists then don't create it?

Thanks for the response. Our current approach is to find ways to utilize AI to boost existing tools like creating bookmarks; page labels; setting scale in bulk; detecting elevations vs section detail viewports; summarizing markup activity; etc. We are also evaluating what it looks like to bring this "boost" directly within Revu without using an outside AI service. Just out of curiosity, if we were to bring this directly into Max, and not require an outside subscription to another AI provider, would this be enough of a compelling reason to upgrade to Max? Or, are you committed to staying on the Core tier regardless if AI were included directly in Max? Thank you for the feedback!

Jumping in here to share our company policy.
Copilot is the only LLM currently approved. We will not be able to test/demo/utilize MAX until such time when the need for an outside service is removed.
It a shame because there are features in MAX that I would love to utilize.

With Revu 21.10, you can use AnythingLLM to connect Max to another AI model. This is new as of a couple weeks ago so this may be an option worth exploring.

Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely. We are very happy with Core as it just fits right for us pricing and feature wise. We will not make full use of Max even if given the opportunity, the cost is simply inefficient. Our wish currently is just to have a better AutoMark feature, which feels can be easily(?) coded into Core, we do not need an LLM.
I get LLM's potential. Almost every company software or hardware are hard pushing on LLM now. But we don't need an LLM. For now, we just need better bookmarks.
To be frank, it is sad (especially for paying customers) to see, community forums dedicated to product feedback also being affected by LLM. I wonder to what extent will all and any new product feature feedback will be solved by many companies responding "just upgrade your package! use the LLM!".
I really hope Bluebeam would not take on this path, Core is currently my best PDF editor for drawings. Without any LLMs.
Strong Reminder: I just want a better AutoMark feature, without LLM. I hope the team will take our product feedback passionately.
