Is there a way to isolate a specific color and send it to a new layer?

Many times my design drawings have light gray images that may not be part of my work. I have been saving these files to a new name to keep the original in case I need this info later on, and then remove these ghosted in images to make my work clearer. Before I remove them, they are changed to a new color so I can identify if they have any information I may need.

Is there a way, than once if change this to a new color and identify that I may not need this info, I can put it all on a new layer and turn the layer off? That way if it turns out I do need that info, I can turn the layer back on.

Thank you for your reply.

This issue is more focused on the image in the drawings. The model allows for a lot of addition information to be included that does not impact my work, and only serves to add confusion.

You should be able sort/filter your comments in the markup pane by color.

Within the markup pane you can Shift+click (if sorted) or ctrl+A (if filtered) to select all of those gray colored markups in the document. You can then right click and add to a layer.
