My hand tool has a line segment attached to it and I'd like to switch it to the zoom tool. I've tried right clicking and it already has zoom checked. Any ideas?
I believe what you are seeing is the difference between "Single Page Mode" and "Continuous Mode" for viewing pages. The shortcuts for these are Ctrl+4 & Ctrl+5. Some documents will open in "Single Page" mode (typically drawings) and other documents will open in "Continuous Mode" (typically Specs). My assumption is that you have typically been seeing plans in Single Page mode but the document you are seeing now is in Continuous mode.
Additionally, with the Hand tool selected, you can hold the Ctrl key which will switch to the alternate of these modes while you are holding the Ctrl key. So if your hand currently has a line next to it (Continuous Mode) holding ctrl will temporarily change the hand to have a zoom next to it (Single Page Mode).
Lastly, both Single Page and Continuous mode display only a single page width at a time. You can also use Ctrl+6 and Ctrl+7 to have side by side pages.
