been getting a "file download error" on iCloud App. it wasn't an issue before but now some of the previous sessions is now not loading. it loads on desktop but not on the app. any idea what's causing the issue?
I am having this exact same problem. Trying the app on my Mac as well as my iPad and neither is working.
Hi @Jill Primak,
Can you confirm if you have updated to our latest version? We shipped an update a couple of weeks ago that we believe resolves this issue. If you're using the latest version and still having issues, are you attempting to open a password protected file?
If you could submit any details along with the problem file to support@bluebeam.com, I'd be happy to escalate this and have our mobile teams look into this for you.

I have this exact issue, nothing seems to resolve it. The newest version of iOS app for BB Cloud and Desktop Revu version 21.9. None of my files are password protected. Literally all of my studio project files are incompatible with 100% of their associated sessions. They've been working fine for months, now all of a sudden every single one just flags "File Download Error". My sessions are basically dead in the water, and the entire function of checked-out documents is lost. I have to download a copy of a PDF from my Studio Project and then manually upload it into a session in order for a PDF to be usable and open. This obviously means that I now have zero version control. I have found that the pattern is very much tied to project files added to a session won't work, while manual uploads of files within the session environment do work. Logging out/in - no help. Fresh installation of the app - no help. Opened a support ticket on this as well and have not heard back after 48 hours. Case 00810268.
Hi @Nick Barber,
Just to confirm, are these Sessions that were started from Studio Project files?
What you’re describing lines up with a current limitation on mobile. Sessions that are tied to Project files don’t fully open/work in the mobile app yet, which is why you’re seeing “File Download Error” while files uploaded directly into a Session still work.
We’re actively fixing this and expect support in the next release so those files open correctly in the Session editor.
If that’s not your setup, let me know. I’ll stay on this with you and make sure your case gets attention.

Hi Shawn, yes that's mostly correct. Many were originally a project file, a session was created from the project, and then "add to existing session" was used to associate those project PDFs with the session for field staff. Looks like the report of previous sessions working from the existing Projects was when staff was still actively using Revu for iPad back in December 2025, and now the shift to BB Cloud has uncovered this new behavior.
I'm having the same issue; it does look like the sessions were tied to the Project Files. Is there an ETA as to when this will be working?
Hey @Blaine Russ,
This update is in active development and targeted for our next release in May, pending deployment in the next couple of weeks (est. May 12–14).
