Hello community,
I am a Cost Estimator that really enjoys usings Bluebeam for QTO. My company is very fond of OST 😑. Anyway, I enjoy using the Space feature a lot and I am also aware of nesting spaces in order to create an additional breakout layer for separating out complex estimates.
One thing that OST does well which that list is short believe me, is they have an Areas feature for breaking things out. Often times, people use that, but Zones in OST is actually the equivalent of Space in BB. So, there is a possibility to next Areas in Zones and have additional Areas nesting within an area.
With Space, it is convenient for markups that clearly are able to meet a certain boundary. But what if you need to separate markups out that aren't necessarily confined to a Space or confining it to a Space is inconvenient due to tight overlaps. I have found that you can actually use Layers as a way to achieve this similar to OST Areas. Basically, if you're not familiar, you can right-click a layer and select "Markup as layer." That essentially will automatically apply that layer to any new markups. So, you would be using layers a little differently than the traditional by discipline. I have found though that toggling between changing your designated markup layer while having a markup already loaded is a little clunky. You have to actually escape from the markup and then select your markup or measurement again for the new markup as layer to apply to it.
Also, is there a way to create a hierarchy within layers to apply to your markup list? My findings is you can create hierarchies in layers, but it does not actually nest or show it within the markups which isn't applicable for exporting data and actually using the hierarchy in that regard.
