Revu stutters/lags on normal PDFs that work fine in PDF-XChange – even with just one file open

Hi all,

I'm getting consistent stuttering and lag in Revu, even with just a single PDF open and nothing else running. These are normal architectural/construction plan PDFs (single large-format page, e.g. A0) that open and edit completely smoothly in PDF-XChange Editor on the same machine — so it doesn't seem to be a file problem.

System:

• HP Pavilion x360 15-dq1004ng (laptop)
• Intel Core i5-10210U, 1.6 GHz
• 16 GB RAM
• AMD Radeon 535 (2 GB dedicated) + Intel UHD Graphics (integrated)
• Windows 10/11 64-bit, GPU drivers confirmed up to date via HP Support Assistant

What I've already tried:

• Assigned Revu32.exe to the dedicated Radeon 535 GPU via Windows Graphics settings ("High performance")
• Checked/toggled Revu's 2D Rendering engine (Preferences > Advanced > 2D Rendering, Hardware vs. Software)
• Updated .NET Framework / Visual C++ Redistributable
• No noticeable improvement from any of the above

Question for the community:
Since PDF-XChange handles the exact same files without issue, what could cause Revu specifically to stutter on this hardware? Is there a known performance setting or rendering quirk in Revu that PDF-XChange doesn't have? Any tips appreciated.

I would first check Revu’s rendering settings rather than the GPU settings alone.

Since the same A0 drawings work smoothly in PDF-XChange on the same laptop, I’d test Revu with Hardware Acceleration and the 2D Rendering options changed one at a time. Also, check whether the lag happens mainly while zooming, panning, scrolling, or editing markups.

I’d also try Revu with a clean profile and temporarily disable any plugins or integrations. The laptop should be able to handle normal construction drawings, so the fact that PDF-XChange works smoothly with the same files is a good clue that the issue may be related to how Revu is rendering the drawings, Thank You
