I want superintendents to be able to pull up a model from their ipad. Many of them use the bluebeam app and I think it would be very cool if they could pull up it in a pdf format.
@DylanPalmer have you found any solutions to this issue since your post? I am having the same issue implementing 3D PDF's into our field workflow. They're great tools for field teams to use as a visual aid for congested areas that are hard to see from a plan view but I haven't been able to find anything out there that supports viewing that type of file. Considering Bluebeam Cloud doesn't even support the very 3D PDF's created out of Bluebeam the outlook seems bleak but hoping maybe you've found something!
@DylanPalmer and @Ryan Saluzzi,
Thanks for sharing this idea. We’ve heard similar feedback before, but to be transparent, supporting 3D PDFs isn’t near the top of our current mobile priorities. Right now, our focus is on helping field users quickly access the information they need from 2D PDFs and document work in real time.
Out of curiosity, what specific problems would a 3D experience solve for your superintendents that a layered 2D PDF can’t? I understand the value of seeing plans from different perspectives, but I’d love to learn more about the real-world benefits you’re seeing for field use.
Again, thanks for sharing and being an active member of this community!

@Shawn Dawson for us the use of 3D PDF's is to enable our installers to be able to better visualize items in congested areas. mainly for us that means heavy mechanical rooms where piping details to coils or other equipment is not super clear from the plan view as the overhead piping clutters what's going on below. we've been able to create static 3D ISO views for them in the past and that has helped so when I heard of 3D PDF's i thought that's like the same idea but on steroids because now they can navigate to anywhere they need to to look at exactly what they want rather then relying on the fixed position iso views, or having to ask me to create new ones. i just never thought that mobile support was going to be such an issue and I'm sorry to hear its not such a high priority on your mobile programs list. i think having access to 3D PDF's is a super valuable tool for field guys to be able to have and just assumed that if Bluebeam lets you create it, it would be able to be opened and viewed on any platform just like any other PDF.
That makes perfect sense. Thanks for explaining it so clearly. I can definitely see how that kind of 3D visibility would help installers in those congested spaces. You’re right that it feels natural to expect a 3D PDF to open anywhere, especially when it’s created in Bluebeam.
Right now our mobile focus is still on 2D markup and measurement workflows, but I’ll share this example with the team. It’s helpful to hear how 3D could save time in the field by reducing back and forth with the office.
Please add the ability to allow some users to edit/delete other peoples comments. This can be controlled through permissions. At our organisation when reviewing drawings there is a review manager that consolidates comments before sending them back. This process occurs regardless of if we are using Bluebeam or another tool.…
Add folders for studio sessions to organize the list of recent Studio sessions. Some of our clients utilize one Studio session per deliverable on large projects that have multiple reviewers. It can be quite a task to find the one studio session for a smaller project amidst the rows and rows of studio sessions per…
With more people using bluebeam as a CAD/drawing program. It would be nice if bullet points/numbers points with auto text indent was a feature.
It would be helpful to have an autosave function for PDFs being used in Revu. Currently this does not exist and would be very beneficial.
This has been requested many many times in the past by many Revu users. WHY is there STILL no numbered/bulleted list function??
It would be a huge time saver to have keyboard shortcuts for assigning markup statuses. Numerous workflows (e.g. QA/QC and design reviews, punch/back-check) involve multiple status changes for markups, and often times there are multiple statuses (or state models) to choose from. On large projects, with 100's if not 1,000's…
I'd like to create/insert a table into Bluebeam Revu that I can edit like any other markup.
