Flatten Forms when emailing them

I have a small form for Parts Transfers form Job1 to Job2. I have a button to email that form to the right dept for processing.

Is it possible to Flatten the form when the email button is clicked? Basically, once the form is sent, we don't want someone to have the ability to edit it anymore.

If so, how do i do that, (I dont know how to write Java Script).

Yes, you can do this in Bluebeam Revu using JavaScript.

The basic idea is to have the Email button flatten the form fields first, then send the PDF. Once flattened, the form fields become regular PDF content and can’t be edited as form fields.

If you’re not comfortable with JavaScript, you can also create the button using Bluebeam’s built-in form/JavaScript options. The exact script depends on how your email button is currently set up.

If you share a screenshot of your button properties, I can show you exactly what to add and where to add it.

Yes, you have the idea correct, flatten then send.

I have the email button working, a little research and found a sample of the java script and used that….

If you could please update me on how to get the first part working, i would appreciate it.

@Brian VanDerHeyden, I think the missing piece was this.flattenPages() needs to be added right before the mailDoc() call.

I just tried it and it looks like it woks!

If i wanted the username & date to auto populate in these textboxes, how do i do that?

I entered this code in Java, action MouseUp, (but tried OnFocus as well, and the others)

Hi Shaya, I found a small issue today, if the text field is set for Read Only, then the name & date do not get automatically updated? Any ideas if there is a work around for that?

The idea is that the user who edits the file is locked, so that we know for fact who edited it and sent in the parts transfer form.
