Today's tool: Spaces

Many users create markups, but very few use Spaces effectively.

Spaces let you divide a drawing into logical areas such as rooms, zones, floors, or work packages. Every markup placed inside a Space is automatically associated with that location.

Why does this matter❓

It helps you:

🔹 Generate room-wise or zone-wise quantity reports.
🔹 Filter markups by location in the Markups List.
🔹 Improve progress tracking and QA/QC.
🔹 Deliver more organized take-offs for estimators and project teams.

For large commercial projects, Spaces can save hours of manual sorting and reporting.

Sometimes, the most powerful productivity gains don't come from new features they come from features we've been ignoring.

What's your experience with Spaces in Bluebeam❓

I use Spaces to organize my take-offs of interior finishes by room, mostly venetian plaster and tadelakt finishes, as usually when there are adjustments in scope it is usually adding or deducting a room. One technique that helps when trying to set up the Spaces and not overlap adjacent rooms is to use a double line as line type when doing the gross wall area with a polylength markup. Then I turn off snap to PDF and turn on snap to markup and use the outside line of the double line to create the space. Now the Gross Wall Area polylength, Window Deduct polylength, Door Deduct polylength, ect all fall within the Space.
