Dynamic Fill trying to get a Polylength & Stucco Question

Question

Hi, I am trying to get Dynamic Fill to also do polylength for baseboards.  I don't think I am doing it correctly as the perimeter is the same as the base boards length. I created a tool but to create it I just used the polylength tool to create a shape and added it to my tool chest. When I am in Dynamic Fill, I select that option for the tool I made. What could I be doing wrong?

Also how do I estimate Stucco? I don't know the thickness or anything. I have been using depth for drywall. I put how tall the walls are in the area I am measuring. Is this correct?

@Jason A is on point for your stucco measurement. He knows his stuff, you should listen to him.

For what you're doing, yes, the perimeter will be the same as the baseboard measurement because Dynamic fill won't subtract for doors or anything. You should be able to apply your Custom tool however, so it will show in your markups list as baseboard.

It's going to be a learning process. First, if the areas and lengths are straight lines, it will be faster to use polylength and area measurements rather than dynamic fill and all of the quirks that come with it. Are the quantities that you generate going to be fed into another estimating program? What level of detail is needed? If it's gross SY's of stucco and boards of drywall that's one thing. If it's going to include  bead, lath, pulled stucco mouldings, ect. it can get much more involved. Either way it will include custom columns and associated formulas.

Don't forget you have Custom Columns available as well, so if you needed a formula that isn't readily available, you can make your own custom one. For example, for Stucco, you could take that wall area multiplied by whatever stucco thickness is and have a measurement specific to that material.
