I would like to suggest an improvement to the way Spaces interact with Legends in Bluebeam Revu.
In many construction, estimating, and quantity takeoff workflows, a single sheet may require more than one Legend. Each Legend may need to report information based on different Space criteria.
For example, we may have:
- A general or master Space for the overall area.
- More detailed Spaces inside that master Space.
- One Legend that should report quantities only by the master Space.
- Another Legend that should report quantities using the more detailed Spaces.
Currently, there does not appear to be a simple way to turn Spaces on/off or select which Spaces should be considered by each specific Legend. Because of this limitation, the workaround is often to duplicate the sheet, create additional Spaces on the duplicated sheet, and then generate a separate Legend there.
This creates unnecessary duplication, increases the risk of inconsistencies, and makes the workflow less efficient.
My suggestion is to add an option in the Legend settings that allows users to control which Spaces are included in each Legend. For example:
- Use all Spaces.
- Use selected Spaces only.
- Exclude selected Spaces.
- Select Spaces using checkboxes.
- Allow each Legend to have its own Space filter.
- Support workflows with nested Spaces, such as master Spaces and detailed sub-Spaces.
This would make Legends much more flexible for takeoffs, estimates, quality control, and reporting. It would also avoid the need to duplicate sheets only to generate different Legends based on different Space information.
